The Government intends that with this new Traffic, Vehicle Circulation and Road Safety Law, offenders using cell phones will be more severely punished and road accidents will be prevented, among other measures. This is what you need to know.<\/p>\n

New Traffic Law: Mobile Phone<\/h2>\n

If you drive and at the same time use your cell phone while holding it in your hand, you will lose six license points.<\/p>\n

Safety belt<\/h2>\n

Three to four points will be lost if seat belts (seat belt, child restraint, helmet, etc.) are not used correctly.<\/p>\n

Radar detectors<\/h2>\n

Not only to use them, the mere fact of carrying them will result in a fine of 200 euros, in addition to the loss of three points on the driver's license. In addition to this, it will become a serious infraction.<\/p>\n

Speed limits<\/h2>\n

Neither motorcycles nor passenger cars may exceed the maximum speed limits by 20 km\/h when overtaking another vehicle on a conventional road. This is a measure that is already applied in other European Union countries.<\/p>\n

Recovery of points<\/h2>\n

What is known so far is that the completion of safe driving courses certified by the Direcci\u00f3n General de Tr\u00e1fico (Traffic General Directorate), will allow to recover or even to get points off the driver's license.<\/p>\n

Driving tests<\/h2>\n

Using unauthorized communication devices in driving tests will be considered as fraud. This means that a very serious offense will be committed and will lead to a fine of 500 euros. In addition, it will not be possible to take a new test within six months.<\/p>\n

Driver registration<\/h2>\n

To find out if a worker has a valid driver's license, companies transporting people and goods will have the possibility of checking the Driver's Register. With red or green color, it will be informed whether the vehicle is in force or not.<\/p>\n

The above new features are in addition to others that are already active and some of these changes already have a date of arrival. However, the goal is for all of these to become effective throughout 2021.<\/p>\n
