Registration and deregistration of cars for driving schools

If you want to know how to register or deregister cars for driving schools, the first thing you need to do is notify the Traffic Department or Office. This way, it can be registered and stamped with the “L” plate necessary to legally drive the vehicle.

Additionally, before carrying out the registration process for driving school cars, you must contact the Traffic Headquarters or Office to schedule an appointment for an inspection of the vehicles you wish to incorporate. Once it is confirmed that everything is in order, you will be given the positive inspection report for the car.

What do you need for registering and deregistering cars for driving schools?

For registration, you will need to present for each of the driving school cars:

  • Formal printed application with the vehicle details you are going to register.
  • Rate number or receipt of payment.
  • Vehicle inspection report previously conducted by the track headquarters.
  • Plate V-14 – “L,” which you must purchase beforehand to be stamped.

To cancel, you will need to present for each car:

  • Request for official form with the vehicle data you are going to deregister.
  • The receipt or proof of payment of the fee.
  • The V-14 “L” plate that was associated with the car.
  • And if the license plates of the vehicle you are going to deregister are missing, you must declare this situation at the Traffic Headquarters or Office. This way you can continue the process without needing them.

What are the available means to do it?

  • In-person delivering all documentation to any Traffic Headquarters or Office (you must consult their operating hours for driving schools).
  • Online Through the Electronic Registry, you must have a valid electronic ID (DNI) or electronic certificate, or your Cl@ve credentials to access the registry.

Please note that if the process is to be carried out by a representative on your behalf, you must authorize them in advance through the Registry of Powers of Attorney. When the representative identifies themselves, they must present the application and indicate this circumstance by selecting “Representative“ in the ”Who is submitting the application?" section. They will then need to fill out the form with their details and yours.
